From a Standard Android to Tesla Style to a Modern Premium Upgrade
At DSUS, we don’t just install products — we test them in real-world conditions before recommending them to our clients. Recently, we had the opportunity to compare three different head unit systems on a single Lexus LX470 (2003 model), brought in by a customer with a clear vision for a better interior design.
Meet Yasin – A Chef with Taste (Literally)
Yasin, a talented young chef from Turkey working at one of Dubai’s top restaurants, visited DSUS on a recommendation from Samih, one of our long-time loyal clients. Samih has referred several satisfied customers to us, and Yasin was no exception.

Option 1: 10” Android Screen – Decent Performance, Outdated Design
The car already had a basic 9 or 10-inch Android screen. Technically, we could have upgraded the unit with a better processor and software, but the main issue was design — no matter how strong the specs were, the outdated dashboard layout remained unchanged. And that was a dealbreaker for Yasin, who was seeking a modern, premium look.
Option 2: Tesla-Style Screen – Looks Great, But Falls Short
After seeing pictures of Tesla-style vertical screens, Yasin was very interested in upgrading to that design. We sourced the unit and proceeded with installation.
Visually, the Tesla-style screen completely transforms the dashboard — it’s elegant and futuristic. But when it came to functionality:
• The system was noticeably slow and laggy
• The physical buttons for the AC controls under the screen didn’t work
• Even the touchscreen AC control was hard to activate
• We eventually ran into touch calibration issues, affecting the overall experience
Option 3: Modern Design with Range Rover Style AC Panel – Best of Both Worlds

After more research, we found a new-generation head unit that not only looked beautiful but also upgraded the AC control panel.
This system featured:
• A sleek modern screen with a floating-style look
• Range Rover-style dual rotary knobs for AC control — very responsive and stylish
• Fast and smooth performance
• Stable Android system that handled all apps without lag
• A clean and highly user-friendly software interface
• Extensive customization options (sound, lighting, steering buttons, etc.)
This version gave us both style and substance — a visually upgraded dashboard with fast performance and full CarPlay/Android Auto support.
Final Thoughts – It’s Not Just About the Looks
This project reminded us — and now, hopefully, you — that upgrading your car’s screen isn’t just about the way it looks.
Performance, compatibility with your car’s systems, and user experience matter just as much.
✅ Apple CarPlay
